Happy 14th Birthday Matthew

We had fun playing “Empire” (a kind of guessing who you are game) tonight with three grandparents and all the offspring. Thanks to Nan and Dan for cooking a lovely tea.

Susanna and I created a tall cake

Two days before Matthew was born I was feeling miserable with waiting so many days after the due date. My parents came for a party and we played 500 and ate chocolate biscuits. My Dad prayed that the baby would start to come the next day. At 9pm the following evening, Mike said, as we lay in bed, “Baby, it is time to come!” Immediately the contractions started (at 4 mins apart). Years later Mike told me he had spent most of the day praying and fasting. Matthew was born 4:21am the next morning – 20 minutes after getting to the hospital. He was stunned at birth but soon started to breathe. I felt so joyful when he was born. He is still a joy to me today and one of God’s precious stones. He’s also half an inch off 6 foot and still growing fast.
