Two sons were involved in a session at the Airforce Museum on the topic of Prisoners of War. While they participated in the talks and activities, the young children, two big guy crowd controllers and I had a look around the museum. The younger children really enjoyed anything that was interactive, like the ride-on helicopter, plane and cockpit, the jigsaws, and trying on the airforce jackets. Susanna enjoyed the Scavenger Hunt – a list of objects to find and questions to answer that had been developed by the museum staff. For me the whole museum experience was sobering – thinking of the mothers of young men in the wars. Afterwards we went to Nan and Pa’s for lunch where we read the book Jim’s Letters, a moving account of a family with a son who goes to WW1.
