A Study in Symmetry

The five youngest children and I were considering symmetry. We searched ‘symmetry’ on Google and discussed these images – symmetrical patterns, symmetry in nature and symmetry in art. Next we had some outside time hunting for symmetry  – leaves, butterflies, petals, flowers, insects. To finish, we each chose a symmetrical photo from our google search and lightly sketched what we saw. Then we used our waterproof black pencils to give our outlines and shading. Finally we added watercolour paints. It was enjoyed by all.
